What is Image Processing?

Image processing is the technology which enables us to process digital images and thus change and improve their structural features and make analysis through these images. Modern technology enables us to use any image (photograph or video) as an input and obtain another image with desired features or data regarding the input image. With image processing, several features of an image such as color, brightness, size and structure can be changed, improved and analyzed using proper software.

This software can be used to correct the defects in digital images and to obtain higher quality images as well as for more complicated purposes such as identifying certain objects and analyzing stable and active objects. Image processing, which is convenient for developing solutions for several sectors that use different image formats, can be used in numerous fields including security, astronomy, defense industry and quality control.
